Everything you need to know before, during, and after your appointment at the Center for Sleep & Wake Disorders. From what to bring to insurance questions to accessing your results securely — we’ve got you covered.

Getting Ready for Your Appointment

All patients should bring the following to your appointment:

  • Insurance card
  • Photo ID
  • Copayment
  • List of current medications
  • Referral if your insurance requires it.

Sleep Study Instructions (If you’re scheduled for an overnight study)
Arrive between 8:30-9pm. Bring pajamas, toiletries, bedtime/morning medications, and your CPAP machine if you use one. Remove gel nail polish before arrival as it interferes with our monitoring equipment. Do not consume caffeine after noon on the day of your study. [See full instructions →](collapsible or link)
Parking: $14 overnight fee at Barlow Building, P3 level.

After Your Sleep Study
Results are available in approximately 10 business days. Schedule a follow-up appointment with us to review your results and discuss treatment options. [Schedule here →](link to Contact)

You will arrive in the morning (specific time TBD). Bring breakfast and lunch or plan ahead to eat nearby. Bring your own computer if you’d like to use wifi between nap periods. Do not consume any caffeine the morning of your test. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a cap or hoodie if you plan to step outside. You’ll have four 20-minute nap periods throughout the day. Plan to be here 6-8 hours.

Standard office visit. Arrive 10-15 minutes early. Bring your insurance card, photo ID, and a list of current medications. Wear comfortable clothing. Your physician will review your sleep history and may recommend testing at this visit.

Standard office visit. Bring any sleep study results or medical records. Wear comfortable clothing. Your physician will discuss your diagnosis and treatment options.

Your Patient Portal

Your AdvancedMD patient portal is a secure way to manage your care between visits. Here’s what you can do from the portal:

All in one secure place.

Your health portal keeps your health information protected and allows you to communicate with our physicians and staff securely. For HIPAA compliance, we require all patient communication to go through the secure portal rather than regular email.
